Successful Treatment of a Case of Acute Renal Failure by Means of Intermittent Peritoneal Dialysis

Abstract
Peritoneal dialysis was used first time in 1923 by Ganter for removal of renal failure toxines.
But its clinical uses had been limited due to frequent complications such as peritonitis, over and dehydration, electrolytes inbalance, and technical problems ets. until 1951, when Grollman revived its use with intermittent method. There has been much interested in this subject lately in Korea since the dialyzing solution, Imperinol, became available since January 1966.
A case of acute renal failure successfully treated by means of intermittent peritoneal dialysis was reported, and also the literatures for peritoneal dialysis were reviewed.
